I am curious about this author but I don’t really like stream of consciousness. I’ll wait to see your final review.

Very short book, only about 200 pages, and moves well. There is enough of a plot to give it some sense of cohesiveness. I'm about halfway there, so we will see, Antoinette.

I love stream of consciousness, Sara: It's solid reality that is an illusion.

This would be just the book for you, Julio, and I won't argue your premise. Enjoying it depends on the skill of the author, but it often requires more concentration than I am anxious to give in order to follow it, particularly when there is very little plot to move me along to the author's intended destination. I confess to getting better with it as I continued to read Woolf.

I appreciate what stream-of-consciousness writers were going for, but I can't ever say I actually love reading it, if that makes sense. I've already made it a personal philosophy of mine that life is too short to read James Joyce. 🤪
