I think this book series is trying to convince me that anthropomorphic objects make for fun characters.

You do magic the same way you do algebra; if you change something on one side, you have to do it on the other one too, so it's balanced.

This book is so dumb I love it so much. What other fantasy books can contain the sentence 'the mist would have curled anyway; it was very experienced mist and had got curling down to a fine art?'

It appeals too much to my slightly questionable sense of humour.

Also this is technically the third book in this series but it's the first book in its subseries so it's okay.
