We've both read Joyce's three Harold Fry novels, I think. I am a big fan of the Archers. I was listening to an interview with one of the actors from the Archers - he plays Jakob, one of the vets. Turns out he's married to Rachel Joyce.

Yes I’ve read all the HF novels. I actually googled Rachel Joyce the other day and saw that she is married to an actor….I wanted to check her age because this book is so full of anachronisms it’s really taking me out of the story…she’s 64 and her characters are mainly 30s and 40s and it’s just that bit ‘off’, you can tell she’s Gen X and not millennial

Or perhaps she falls into the boomer demographic

I enjoyed Home Made God, but feel it is different to her other books. The father is an awful bully and his children's lives are blighted by him. Usually her characters are all 'nice' even if they are odd. Not the right word but can't think of a better one at the moment wors

I agree Annette, quite different to her other books, but enjoying the descriptions of Italy… probably a 3 star read
