Honestly, so far this book reads like an adult man - really trying to write a teenage boy character. Only in its overcompensating, does the character lack depth and fall flat. As in: teenagers - even the most pubescent boys have deeper thoughts than this. I don’t know if part of the praise of this book is in how this stark contrast of baseness is followed by mental and emotional growth. But… I don’t get it.
