We have reached the moment of convergence! Julian, Emma, Mark, Kieran, Cristina, Jace (Sorry for your loss, Jace!) and Clary (Girl, you must be so conflicted about Ash!) are all together in the Faery realms now and shit has hit the fan! We seem to have reached the major mid-book event and I was sat for it. The converging story lines made all the shifting POVs so worth it. P.S. Julian's state is extremely concerning!

I formed multiple theories when Julian and Emma were in Thule. I believed that the Parabatai rune would fade away & Julian and Emma would be able to finally breathe a sigh of relief. I also thought Julian’s emotion spell would break for good, even when he returned to the original universe. I hoped they would bring Livvy back but alas, that was wishful thinking. Needless to say, my theories were spectacularly wrong!

I am extremely flabbergasted by the current stream of events. I’m glad I revisited Mortal Instruments before starting this book since we seem to have delved back into an alternate ending to The Mortal Instruments. This utterly chaotic fantasy with unfathomable complexity might just be the read that my prolonged book slump needed! I’m beginning to think Romantasy took away some of Fantasy’s pure magic!

I'm remembering Cassandra Clare's writing style through the course of this book. Her series conclusions usually have a lot of intertwined plots that slowly converges as the end nears. Currently, I'm at the stage where I am very invested in the individual plots but mildly frustrated when there is a swift shift to another POV just when the current POV has a revelation. It does keep me on the edge of my seat tho!

I really love a storyline where I do not even have the slightest clue about what events will transpire. So far, I’m really intrigued. This book has a lot of moving parts and it is not focused on a single journey, but multiple journeys taken by a plethora of characters. At times, that can also be somewhat cumbersome for me, as the constantly shifting POVs take some time to get used to. That’s my only gripe!

I needed this change in genre. Lately I’ve been reading a lot of heavy literature, and The Secret of Secrets was only adding to the moroseness. Returning to this YA fantasy - nine years after reading the earlier books in the series - feels exactly like the palate cleanser I needed
