*fingers crossed* so far I like this. I am currently obsessed with the prose, it’s beautiful! And I find it gripping. But… I worry about our only female character. I love a problematic woman (generally as long as she’s also self aware), but I always get my hackles up when she’s written by a man. So 🤞🤞🤞

… one of the audiobook narrators is almost unlistenable. Her man voice is intolerable, and the tone choices she makes for all the characters are grating. Yes, everyone in this book is a dick. Yes, it is getting exhausting. But man, she just makes it borderline DNF worthy. Her Hamish voice is slow and plodding at 1.4x, I can’t imagine how shit it is at 1x
