Mainly about old library/archives and historical research in strange places.

My first assigned reading of my masters degree.

This is also like book one out of twenty something for this class fml.

Cool stuff about the importance of photos and movies in historical accounts.
How stuff like the birth of a nation is laughably bad historically yet does a great job of demonstrating how some Americans viewed issues of the time.

Adds even more historical significance knowing it’s the first movie ever played in the White House……

Library talk got boring. Chapter 2 talks about how novels worked their way into historical record unintentionally.

While it may be a complete work of fiction, how characters react to particular things and how authors chose to write about events/problems is a reflection of societal values and worries.

Raab’s analogy makes this the ONLY time reading Dostoevsky has ever benefitted me in the slightest.
