A superb soap opera about the lives and loves of a small town, and political delicacies of the 1830s. Not obviously a light read, but rather deep analysis of human nature. The profound description of the characters (Dorothea, Lydgate, Ladislaw, Bulstrode...) breathes the brilliance of the writer. It is massive but keeps you enthralled in their lives and losses.
