I didn’t read a lot in the past few days, but that’s not the book’s fault. This is great! The Walk has been going on for over 24 hours now and it’s really taken a toll on some of them. There’s the physical: drooling, glazed eyes. Basically zombies. And the mental toll, which is interesting. Most of these guys don’t even know why they chose to do it! To die, of course! And there aint no women walking!

But there’s this part of my brain that knows a bit too much. I was nursing a left ankle injury last month and did a lot of walking on a treadmill instead of my usual running. I started off at 3-3.5 mph and ended at 4-4.3 mph when the ankle got stronger. Point is I know what walking at 4 mph feels like and these dudes become zombies while STILL walking at that pace. Nah, I don’t think so.

This is gonna be a nice and easy read! I’ve always said King’s at his best when he’s writing about children. These are teenagers, but he’s at his second best when he’s writing psychological horror. The story takes place on the road and only the road and so it takes a skillful writer to make this work. I know little of the characters right now other than Garrety is a breast man. Seriously.
