I borrowed this book from the library out of curiosity about the selection process that had Anne Rice in and Dante out. I only found reviews that sometimes sound sheepishly apologetic, and no justification of the selection process. If they are selected as novels, why title it "books"? And why include essays and short stories? Ah yes, the publisher's heavy hand... why lend your name to this travesti, then? Money?
