This book has been such a test for me - I speed read the first 20 pages and wasn't very moved. It then sat for 4 days untouched. Once I got past page 50ish, it really picked up and I'm so glad I gave it another chance. It takes awhile to get used to the authors styled pacing, descriptions and just the fact that it's translated from Spanish to English creates a more evocative and lyrical text than I'm used to..
