Goddamn, this is the good stuff. This book reminds me of why I love fiction.

This book is on track to be an all-time favorite. Second-best Western I've read after Lonesome Dove, but honestly it's pretty damn close. I knew Larison was good from having read his second novel The Ancients, but this is on another level. Damn.

Sophie Amoss voice-acts the audiobook. This is the third or fourth Amoss audiobook I've listened to, including The Antidote and I Am Homeless If This Is Not My Home, and this one is the best. She chose a flat affect for the titular character of The Antidote, and Homeless is told in a flat third person. Her best work in Homeless are the character voices. This one is in a strong first-person voice, and she nails it.
