Dialogue is intriguing. Wondering if his obsession with taking in every part of the bedroom has something to do with what seems like an internal battle over his willingness to commit to the act he has been planning. It seems as if he alone strives to control every aspect of the world he inhabits (ie. trying to avoid speaking to others) and that he greatly fears the unexpected.

Raskolnikov’s actions seems to be the human equivalent of flipping a coin. He’ll commit a murder, presumably to take the goods and get money to get back on his feet, then hide the goods without looking at them. He also seems to think everyone is as perceptive as him and thinks in the same way as he does. Also, it hints towards him having visions about the murder, which is interesting because of how he sees Ilya.

I have a feeling the murder won’t go the way he expects it to. It’s interesting how many things in Raskolnikov’s recent past seem to be pure coincidence (overhearing the conversation about Ivanova, timing from the artisan, etc.) and yet it is hard to discern whether he feels as though they are coincidences, or rather signs that what he is doing is right / was always going to happen even if he didn’t do it.
