Give me a short reason why I should read Bavinck

Erik, you should read “Neo-Calvinism, A theological Introduction” by Dr. Gray Sutanto and Dr. C. Brock.

I firmly believe that after this 250 pg book you will see why guys like me and Langan, Dr. Bacote and Dr. Massad, and even pastors like Tim Keller call ourselves Neocalvinists. The missiologists Leslie Newbigin and Roland Arnold also were of benefit later on. Though you surely won’t agree with all of it, you will appreciate why people who are interested in missions, interreligious dialogue, and ethics are drawn to this tradition. (The writings in the book above are by a later missiologist from the Neo Calvinist tradition).

An important emphasis in Neo Calvinism is a worldview that gives justice to both the reality of unity and diversity, the one and many. Also, the ethical writings of Bavinck surrounding WW1 are incredible and lowkey prophetic. It’s cool🤙🏻

The unity worldview certainly comes through:
“Unity is the ultimate goal of all the ways of God” - Kuyper
And,
“That which unites all true Christians is always more than that which divides them”- Bavinck


Ok, and finally, it’s one of my favorite books so go read it

But Erik if you really don’t have time to read a 250 page book go to Google and look up “The Kingdom of God: The Greatest Good”. It’s a 38 page essay and it’s one of my favorite shorter works

I’ll look into it! I have no problem reading things from different traditions (I mean, I’m going to read Calvin and Edwards lol). Sounds interesting!
