What would summer even be without this book

“No person ever died that had a family.” 😭😭😭

This book is such a delight, it’s one of those I wish all my friends would read so we could hush over it together!! 🥺

Oh Douglas. 🥺 Poor thing, I just want to hug him!

So many characters in this book have endeared themselves to me so quickly it’s unreal! I teared up in several sections (Mrs. Bentley; Colonel Freeleigh; the Happiness Machine) over how nostalgic or bittersweet certain stories played out. So many life lessons and wandering thoughts and overall relatable experiences I shared as a kid growing up in Illinois.

But man, did I BAWL over Helen Loomis & Bill Forrester.

I think I am in love with this book and will need to be rereading it annually from now on. 🫶🏻
