Haven’t read since high school but I recall enjoying this immensely.

I did not recall the foreword by the author and now I better appreciate Hawthorne’s intimate relationship with the plot as he is descended from those that sought to mark and shame Hester Prynne centuries before he was employed at the Boston Customs House.
