Just finished chapter 3 and it was fantastically eye opening on the punitive attitudes towards women, no matter if they are the perfect wife and mother, a struggling mother, a rebellious child or simply a “mislead little girl” (privy to judicial perception). How do we win in a legal system that is stacked against us no matter what archetype we fit into?

It was very interesting to learn about how the judicial system and the legal bodies (e.g. the Inn’s of Court, House of Lords and the High Court) treats and discounts women and people of color. This was an amazing exploration of the personal experiences of Kennedy and other women in the law.

I am one chapter into this book and I love it. It is so eye opening and succinct when illustrating the miscarriages of justice that plague UK’s legal system. I will continue to read and update because the points that Kennedy is bringing up are insane.
