About a quarter of the way through the audiobook, and my love for Grant is reaffirmed each day. A rare ‘Great Man’ who was also a *good* man.
His failures and personal struggles, which lasted until his 40s at the start of the Civil War, are genuinely moving and, I think, especially inspiring for those of us who have failed at many pursuits. Grant should be one of the patron saints of late bloomers everywhere!
