You can get the overall gist of this entire book simply by reading the conclusion/summary section, followed by the brief responses of a small number of female Star Trek fans (who have made a name for themselves) sharing how the show and characters inspired them.

I did *not* know anything about her being a victim of rape/kidnapping/robbery. Absolutely terrible; I'm glad both perps were caught and convicted.

Ugh- she's speaking positively of Monica Lewinsky and Anita Hill...nothing was heroic about their behavior- and I say that with particular revulsion about Anita, who was certainly aware of how much she was lying. At least we know now that what Monica was coerced to do, *actually* happened.

The concept of bringing multiple sets of clothes to auditions so that you can "fit" into a number of different possible roles you're hoping for is incredibly resourceful.

Extensive retrospective of women emerging in the workforce through WWII, and how men returning home changed the "balance" of roles that sorta set the backdrop of the 60s...and the beginning perspective(s) of Star Trek.

Reading a book with just my eyes is slow going, sometimes. :-P

This book had a long hold list, so I'm expecting it to be pretty good. I also jave a quiet appreciation for Nana Visitor.
