Ever since Thrawn has been killed every time he has mentioned as a brilliant tactician is so odd to me. Maybe I didn’t understand enough when I read the Last Command but his death just kind of happens. And the 3 books since then he keeps being brought up as the smartest guy.

The book falls into the same category as the Thrawn duology. A somewhat interesting premise/hook to start the book. That devolves after the halfway point due to the how the conflict is being resolved.
The main highlight of the book is Luke and Mara. They really try to be detectives the whole time. Though that part gets annoying when they keep questioning each other

- The mention of low key was noteworthy
- Main takeaway of the plot is that it’s weird for Luke and Mara to put this iteration of the 501st in high regard bc at the end of the day it is just a title. Nothing about these stormtroopers makes them as threatening as the original imperial 501st
