We are not to think of the pastorate as the crucible that might make an arrogant man humble. The pastorate is indeed a crucible and will make a genuinely humble man all the more humble, but it is not a lab for experimenting with arrogant men."

They need not be world-class in their intellect, oratory, and executive skills.
