The writing is quite engaging. Story is presented without heavy scene setting, which works well. Dialogue sounds natural. I recognized the narrator and appreciate his style. The story carries a light, comical tone so far. The main character’s sexuality is noted briefly a couple of times but only in passing, which is striking given it is a couple of centuries ago. I am intrigued and enjoying the book.
