I want to hear your impressions of this book. I've been meaning to read it for a while.

Well, it is quite slow. Lots of details and backstory for each main character (and several side characters), and really loooong paragraphs - this may be a translation thing. It was originally written in Spanish, correct?

I do wish it moved faster, but it really gets into the nitty gritty about the different races and specifics about the gold-rush era in California. I find that very interesting. And I’ve just got to see if she finds her lover or not! lol
