Like many libertarians, the author has a fascination with coercion and avoiding claims on individual autonomy. I get this leave me alone principle, and it shows in his introduction, where he focuses on the coercive aspect of philosophical arguments. I sometimes feel I am being manipulated by rhetoric and don't like it but when an author is more inviting, I may listen. So I get his libertarian skepticism.
