Lewis tries to fix a spotlight. Climbing a ladder beneath a ceiling fan. When looking down the fan blades, he suddenly sees: a dead elk lying on his living-room floor. Recognizing it as one he killed 10 years earlier. Its eye suddenly opens and blinks, terrifying him, causing him 2fall. Wife Peta arrives at the right moment & saves him from hitting the brick fireplace.

Lewis’s paranoia goes onto Shaney. The idea that she may be this elk head woman. disguised as a human. His fear and paranoia finally take over, and he kills her.
The disturbing part is that it leaves you questioning whether Lewis actually killed the supernatural entity or whether he murdered an innocent woman because his guilt and paranoia drove him to believe she was the monster.

Lewis’ paranoia on Peta possibly being connected to this elk spirit is intensified. You really see how Lewis feels uncomfortable in his own home when he hears something come up the stairs and tries to catch the reflection or when he eats his food at the kitchen sink because the messed up light and ceiling fan scare him.
