I don't quite get the praise for this book, I'm not connecting. The epistolary nature of the novel is of course a difficult medium to create well-rounded characters, connection, except for the MC. (Thinking of Frankenstein, Dracula, The Color Purple, This Is How You Lose the Time War... so it can be done!) Teasing like eavesdropping is, BUT... it's all GOSSIP-level.
