People do not literally "reach out" through their emails. With all the maudlin subtext.

Unless you take a sentimental view of the spammers and other dishonest folks who contact me on a daily basis, lavishly praising "my book" and sending a come-on about how they can help more people find my published "book." (If you count the foreign editions, I've published something like 55 books so far.)

Bill Bryson's writing about Stonehenge is my favorite part of this book so far.

And Simon Davies, if you ever go onto Facebook, please accept my thanks for how you drove me there. What a gift!

Bill's account of going to Tintagel is one heck of a romance buster!

He is such a delightfully quirky tour guide.

Bryson's combination of geniality, wit, appreciativeness and curmudgeonhood are pure recreation for me in this book.

In a section that especially appealed to my sense of humor, Bill Bryson calls out common cliches that he absolutely loathes.

My favorite the use of "reaching out." More confusion, imo, when people in these early years of The Age of Awakening confuse energy sensiivity with objective reality.

Bryson's wit is so delicious.

In particular, I've relished his mini-rant about a lovely house that was ripped down. On the land a larger house was built.

Bill Bryson described its architectural style as "Russian Gangster."

Bryson is such an entertaining writer.

Fun fact. (Bill Bryson is really good at finding these.)

Virginia Woolf once lived in the same neighborhood as L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of Scientology.

That is, one of the greatest novelists in the English language lived in the same hood as a successful cult leader.

The British countryside sounds so beautiful. I've only been in London--5 wonderful times.

Much learning awaits me, courtesy of witty, brainy Bill Bryson.
