Ugh this book took a turn for the worse and I just learned it's probably fan fiction which would explain all the assumed knowledge.

Literally a few pages later, 65% through the book, I now know she's 45.

If we're going to discuss her age nonstop would you like to finally clue us in on how old she is??

Why do so many books I pick up recently have abundant flashback chapters?

I swear characters are just mentioned all the time with no or little context. I need a little priming evidently.
