An ambiguous past is only interesting so long as it’s not constantly mentioned in a “oh but we have this big secret the reader doesn’t know of yet” aspect. It gets to a point I’m annoyed by the secret and it not developing and I’ll spoil it myself. This is annoying me almost more than I’m enjoying the other elements. This has 3% before I DNF it.
