She hasn’t even met Nelson yet but her life is so wild. Incredible all that she did and who she became. The writing is also great with really interesting anecdotes and thorough while not dwelling too long on anything. It’s fun to read her letters and see all the unique ways people spelled things. My favorite is “whomin” for women.

Wow what a tragic end. I guess the lesson is don’t spend money you don’t have. I don’t know what was worse - Emma’s husband not leaving her his estate, or that he didn’t credit her for the work she did in Naples, or that William Nelson was “elated” when his brother died because he knew he hadn’t changed his will, or the gvt not honoring Nelson’s codicil!!… I am too angry to finish this book!!!
