The last book that left me this nauseous less than 10 pages in, eager to continue reading and constitutionally unable to was Train Dreams by Dennis Johnson (finished and loved it). I have understood in broad strokes the cruelty of Columbus but killing Arawak boys for fun after taking their parrots or “complete” genocide was not what I was expecting.
