Copper stayed in his bed for over a week to recover from his sickness, but the incident had been on his mind during his rest. He invented different excuses to tell his friends for not helping them. But he sniffed out the ideas, knowing that would make him a lying coward. Looking at the ceiling from his bed, he has been examining his own thoughts and actions carefully and closely.

The senior students punched Kitami as punishment for damaging their snowman. Kitami sprawled on the snowy ground with Mizutani and Uragawa shielding Kitami from the barrage of snowballs. Copper wanted to jump in, but fear had claimed his legs. After the incident, the boys went back to the school building together, leaving Copper standing in the yard with his head downcast.

Even the great German writer Goethe admired Napoleon's boundless vitality and force of will and was moved to tell of it.
