But why are 'I don't want to and 'I want to so close to each other inside me? That's the horror of it, that all I want is yesterday's rapturous death again. The horror is that even now, when the logical function is integrated, when it's obvious that it implicitly contains death, I still want her – my lips, my hands, my chest, every millimetre.

I could feel myself. But feeling oneself, being conscious of one's individuality is for an eye with something in it, an abscessed finger, an aching tooth. When an eye, finger or tooth is healthy, it's like it's not even there. Isn't it clear that self-awareness is nothing but a symptom of disease?

A button snapped on her collar – her chest – lower. The glassy silk rustled over her shoulders, her knees – onto the floor. I heard – and this is even more vivid than seeing – how one foot stepped out, then the other... out of the blue-grey pile of silk…

But still, he, O and I – we are a triangle – even if it’s not equilateral, it’s still a triangle. We are, to put it in the terms of our ancestors (perhaps you, my planetary readers, will understand this language better), we are a family. And it’s so nice to rest sometimes, even for a little while, to shut oneself off in a simple, sturdy triangle, shutting out everything that…

I was suddenly overtaken by the beauty of this grand mechanical ballet glittering in the weightless, pale blue sunlight.
