For all the people in the reviews complaining that the author never states her thesis; on Page 19 “How this desire was transformed over the nineteenth century, and how it, in turn, transformed that century, is my subject.” Did yall even read it

I looked at reviews prior to starting this, and almost all of the ones I saw were 1-2 stars and it was people complaining about the thesis of the book. However, the book doesn’t claim to be a revisitation of murders that happened over 100 years ago in an effort to uncover new details. No. It pretty clearly states that its intention is to dissect the effect of murder on media.
