Children, in the end, don't understand that they live in a poor household. That their parents argue over spendings. Over the diaspora. It's all part of the tragedy.

Poverty breeds a special brand of trauma :')

Racism shouldn't be the norm. Especially for children. Be outraged when it happens in a book. But be even more outraged when it happens in real life. Racists should not get to be so loud.
