the intro mentions that ultimately this is a book about loving women and i see that, but this section about loving your culture and your language is unbelievably powerfuk

i like how most of these are clearly a concept for an unusual form or a specific magic system and they're developed only enough to cover it. many authors would try to milk an entire book out of something that really should only offer 20 pages

these stories are very short but good god they pack a punch

i don't know that i understood that one even after reading it twice but the prose is so beautiful that i don't even care. just throw words at me

the amount of love that is held in just 15 pages is overwhelming
