I would like to throw this response of Sybella's in the face of everyone counselling all teenagers just to give their babies up for adoption: it's not that simple. It's not like it never happened. A child's life leaves a gap in that mother, regardless of whether she felt like she could choose to "give up" a baby. I think the author handled this very compassionately.
