I find it funny that people are turning into flowers left and right! It happened only three times I guess (Hyacinthus, Minthe, and Adonis) though two of them were done as acts of immortalization and one as a humbling punishment (and I don’t even have to say that the latter is a woman)

I need to reread Madeline Miller’s Galatea! I think I’ll appreciate it more after reading her story here. I might wait until I’ve read Ovid’s Metamorphoses.

The story (and characters), however, have so much character and vigor! I can’t wait to see what happens now! think I’m going to enjoy Ovid’s Metamorphoeses a lot!

There’s also the glaringly obvious bias to the male gender (both mortals and gods) and also how rampant pedophilia was but I guess it is a product of its time and place.

I’m enjoying the little stories interspersed throughout Orpheus’s journey through the underworld a lot! I should really read more Greek/Roman mythologies. I find it fascinating how cruel the gods are and also how creative their punishments are. Venus/Aphrodite in particular is quite vindictive and not equally just (punishing Atalanta too for Hippomens’s sins)
