I am about to finish the first part of the book. So far, I enjoyed the way George puts out her observation about Ann and everything else. The observations are not "unkind" judgements. They are full of judgements and sarcasm. However, they also come with an earnest wish to understand Ann. George is a kind person with kind eyes.

Nunez has a way of storytelling that is circular. She writes as if she is putting out her brains on the plate. She would write about what her brain would remember or be reminded of (which she has previously shared in the story) in a particular conversation. I relate to this.
