Just remembered that this exists. Rather negative on completing all of it. Started our strongish, but is thin as hell at many places, to a degree that I think Grayling ought not have written about stuff he seemingly has not researched deeply. Many inclusions seem performative rather than constructive, but I will lend my ear to his reconstruction of analytical philosophy to see where this lands me.

Last broad history of philosophy for a while. It's cool to see the interconnections, but when it comes to the actual content of the philosophers the format allows nothing but being underwhelmed, except in the rarest cases where arguments are presented so lucidly and concise, that there are aha moments. The presocratics were presented very well here. Still, author is too confident in his bio-sketches when he shouldn't
