I dislike the cover of my copy (a still from the movie: a man and woman kissing in front of the steps of a bookstore) and loathe the title. But I loved T&T&T and my complaints about the cover remind me of Sittenfeld’s THE MAN OF MY DREAMS, which I would have written off if I wasn’t already a fan. I want to give this the benefit of the doubt, but honestly so far the male lead reads as annoying and false.

Joshua Glasgow Something I wanted to say in my update above but ran out of characters and was unable to include: the male lead, A.J., makes a reference to old-timey baseball player Honus Wagner. The last book I read, THE ANIMATORS by Kayla Rae Whitaker, included a character named Honus Caudill.

When I read THE ANIMATORS, I made an update marveling at the fact that it included a character named Fart, as I had recently read a series with my son called FART QUEST in which the main character was called Fart. “How many books have you read with a character named Fart in them?” I asked. The coincidence seemed uncanny and exciting.

I have the same question now: how many books have you read where the name “Honus” is used? What are the odds that I would read two books which reference the name back-to-back when I have NEVER (to my recollection) read a book which included the name Honus before? These strange connections between the books I read never fail to thrill me. 😁
