While I consider myself reasonably well informed on astro-physics, I'll admit, a lot of the book's writing is too dense for me. That's not the book's fault, but at least for me, I think you need to be already well informed on the science to make heads or tails of it. I will say that I raised an eyebrow on the blight material. One of the (many) problems I had with Interstellar was how little the blight was explained,

...and the book doesn't go into much more depth. It certainly presents hypotheses as to how the blight could have been so destructive (and certainly generates a good comparison with the rise of cyanobacteria in Earth's distant past), but if anything, it feels like this material should have been in the film itself. Y'know, that North America's population by the film has apparently been reduced by 90%. 0_0
