The clash between two sides is so evident and the effects of nurture so obvious, wicked cruelty breeds wicked cruel natures and the generous good natured breeds valiant high moral beings. The pitiful nature of things is just ironic, Heathcliff being the brute he is only as a result of his upbringing and tortures, which he enacts on those under him. Hurt people hurt people.
