Wow just wow, that final paragraph before the end of this chapter was so beautiful. The connection Andrew made between Francine and the hanging buffalo, John Williams is genuinely such a master at writing within the emotional mind of his characters

John Williams Masterclass writing is in full effect right now. The struggle of Andrew’s with this almost metamorphosis feeling he’s finding as well as this deep fear of the absolute openness and grandness of nature that he’s witnessing, ITS SO GOOD! I’m also slowly starting to trust Miller less and less

John Williams Imagery is coming into full effect right now! The emotions of Andrew and his numbness in this journey is already so gooood! The mentioning of the field of bones immediately filled me with this sad feeling

Part one finished! Sad for Francine and for Andrew 🥲 but also I understand that sudden horror from Andrew especially it being his first time with a woman (who he obviously had feelings for) and imagining the others with her. I really hope at the end of his adventure he returns to her, but she’s not wrong after this he’s sure to be a new person.

Yeah so this little adventure 100% gonna show Andrew’s the cruel side of the country, but seriously I am loving this book so far!
