I finished reading the first chapter, "Toronto, Canada 2000," and now at the beginning of the next chapter, "Mong Kok, Hong Kong 1972."
It looks like each character gas a color-coded section: Mei Laan, Guangdong, 1954; Lydia, Hong Kong, 1972; and Roz, also known as Linney, Toronto, 2000. I'm quite intrigued by this graphic novel.
