Im Alaskan and I just realized that this series is set in Alaska (well, a fantasy version of Alaska). The author has mentioned weather/wildlife that got me curious and so I looked it up and it’s basically Alaska. Even the map is just an upside down Alaska.

More references to Alaskan flora (devil’s club and alders). Between the plant and wildlife references, it really feels like I’m reading a book set back home (apart from the castles/kingdoms because those definitely don’t exist in Alaska).
