wanted to expand on their relationship a bit. ofc i love the romantic suspense of it all, it gives an edge to the book that i appreciate it. but i like that we see eve become more and more vulnerable with roarke and in a world where you should definitely be guarded .. i.e she’s a cop who solves gruesome murders. it’ll also be rewarding to see eve re-discover herself from the image she holds on to so desperately

ok, so many times we see the police just circumvent due process. also i hate when ppl are like don’t defend me when you quite literally needed defending. she would’ve died if he hadn’t been there. and marriage?! what?!! ok then. the ending scene, yes i was keyed in but it just felt nonsensical after a while. the villains always seem so corny. but if i just enjoy it for what it is and not much else, 3.5 stars

oh. ok. LOL i realize it really could just be her character and behavior that made him fall in love with her. i feel like we haven’t seen enough of that in the book. not saying i need more drawn of scenes of their time spent together but you know what, actually maybe i do! we get a lot of the crime and drama and mystery but the scenes with them both don’t feel long enough. maybe that’s the point, for balance

lol again still expanding on their relationship - also sometimes i think that the relationships don’t hold much depth and not just in this book. how is he so love with her? is he just infatuated? is it just pure lust (and sometimes it is in others) but bc roarke lists other reasons for loving her than her looks, i suspend my disbelief that hes so in loves her, it’s like it can’t just be her character but anyhow

i plan to finish this tonight.. was enjoying it until the only monoracial black person in the book was depicted as … that was just off and unnecessary. if i choose to ignore that, the rest of the book is fine. the relationship between the fmc and roarke is heavy and intense at times but not unbearably so like the bared to you series which I’m gonna read next. eve has many faults but i still appreciate her pov
