Wow. Can’t believe Warren left Sarah like that, I thought this was supposed to be a love story??? All the characters are frustrating but I can understand where all of them are coming from. It really depends on who you’re actually rooting for to be happy. One person’s happiness guarantees the unhappiness of another. It really is quite a dilemma to have to choose, Warren is stuck in a difficult place.

Wow I can’t believe that many years have passed. Sarah is right that Warren is living in unhappiness. The only thing that makes him happy is his daughter and even that’s not enough. He keeps himself from fully expressing his opinions to Janet. Sarah is also living in a dark place. She’s still crying about it four years later. Josh is more emotionally in-tuned than I thought. Meg’s call watered my eyes a bit.

Meg getting sick broke my heart. I was on the verge of sickness. I was holding my breath the entire time. I’m glad she got better. I think it’s cute that Jeff is opening up to Sarah as well. Their “ILY” did seem a bit awkward tho. Warren is still in despair about his marriage. He seems miserable. Except when he’s with his daughter. I don’t think Warren and Chris will get as close as he had hoped.

All of the characters are really frustrating besides Sarah and Warren surprisingly. It makes me want to root for them. The significant lovers of both of their daughters don’t seem to love them besides the insinuation of it in the book. Every character is kinda bland and objectively boring. I don’t even know if this is a love story anymore. Can they get back together already?

Maybe it’s because I’m not a parent that I don’t understand but I didn’t realize even adult children had so much impact on their parents. It’s also insane to me how quickly Janet let Warren back into her life like she needs validation from him. I feel bad for Meg going through that pregnancy, I do think their conversation about the scary stuff was flat and unresolved. Neither characters felt seen.

Warren told his family about getting a divorce. I’m thoroughly surprised about Janet’s and Kat’s reactions but I also understand them. Since you’re reading from Warren’s perspective though, you also sympathize a lot with him. You’re stuck in between a moral dilemma. Does the children have a say in the marriage? At what point do you prioritize your own happiness over keeping the peace?

So far, I’m conflicted on how to feel about their relationship.
