“I gather each tidbit, each lead I pursue as tho I am finding someone with whom I am in love,” about his research on Jack Garland, a trans man living in SF at the turn of the century. I keep returning to this line and can’t talk about it in a way that’s not trite other than it makes me want to cry and hold both of these dead men.
