The old man disappeared, leaving the girl worried. She confides in R (her editor) and heads to the Memory Police headquarters and fails to find where the old man is located but they make her fill out an information form and drink strange tea. I suspect that she is becoming fond of R. The old man returns 3 days later and he was questioned because some people tried to escape island by boat and the old man lives @ dock

The girl asks her father’s old friend to help her make a secret room for her editor in her basement. He builds it and under the pouring rain, they meet up at her house. R, the editor, has a child and pregnant wife at home and they must send each other things by the wife leaving things into a mailbox at an old school. The girl continues to write her novel with the help of her editor.
